"And all those alien plants have disappeared as well" added Cornelius.  "I've spoken with DPR headquarters and they've informed me that while were were at the laboratory they sent teams to vaccinate the locals and cure the infected." "I can see how people are happy again and going about their business without looking frightened.  They know it's over and they didn't have to be told." said David, pointing out the normal routines of the inhabitants of Strangerville returning. So job done, is it?" asked David. CHAPTER 19: The Final Conflict

Three unmarked vans pulled up outside of the abandoned secret laboratory that lay in a crater atop the Strangerville Mesa.  The first van contained two medics and in the back was medical equipment.  The second van had 4 men in it and metal crates in the back.  The third van contained 5 individuals:  Dr Jon Cornelius, David Wright, Peggy Chalke, Corporal Jess Sigworth and Mayor Ted Roswell. Cornelius started organising the group and assigning them their tasks. "Dr Sands.  Set radio frequency to channel 12.  If I call a medical emergency down there, initiate full quarantine procedures.  Mr Putney, have your team bring those crates down to sub-level 2 and then get back up top quickly so you don't risk spore infection.  The rest of you...with me." CHAPTER 18: Allies

  KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! "Who on earth can that be at this time of night?" asked Cornelius.  David shrugged his shoulders.  They had been going over the reports on the new vaccine's effectiveness all evening and it was past 10pm.  It could be Peggy calling, although she wouldn't do so without calling first, or Dr Sands from the DPR but highly unlikely.   "Do you want me to answer it or..." began David but Cornelius waved his hand in dismissal. "I'll go...I can't abide a mystery." Cornelius replied. "I'm coming with you" said David.  Cornelius looked through the stained glass panel of the front door to see who it was.
